Chapter 44. One Week

Max’s POV

Ava crossed her arms over her chest and continued, “I can’t travel just like that. What about Sophie? I can’t leave without her,” she stated. “I was so busy with the department store that I didn’t spend time with Sophie. Now that I’m free and she is on vacation you are dragging me to a business trip with you. That’s not fair.”

That was a response I had prepared for because I had expected it.

“Oh about that.” I dipped my hand into my pocket and brought out a white envelope.

Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion as I went down on my knees in front of Sophie who eyed me with questioning eyes. She took a step back and held onto Mason’s hand tighter. I could tell that she still hadn’t forgiven me for what I did and got her in trouble with her mom.

I took her free hand and pushed the envelope into it. “This is for you.”
