Chapter 7. The Perfect Couple in Public
Max’s POV
“I’m going out,” I stated.
Aaliyah frowned. “But this is our wedding night…”
“I’ll be right back.”
I didn’t even give her a chance to reply before walking into the room to change out of my clothes and wear something comfortable. I grabbed my keys and head out of the room.
City lights blurring past outside as I drove down the highway, the car quiet but for the tempest in my head.
My phone was ringing and I had no clue who it was. I was going to let it go to voicemail- but something made me pick up.
“Max.”
I jumped. That’s his voice.
“Mason?”
“Surprise, surprise, it’s me.” Like he hadn’t up and vanished off the face of the earth for three years. “Heard you actually tied the knot with someone. Congrats, little bro.”
I clenched the steering wheel. “You’ve got the guts to call me after all this time.”
