Rose studied Mila's expression; she was still upset but trying not to show it. "Where are you going?" She asked.

Lia moistened her lips and peered around, fearing the guards would see or hear them.

"Someplace far away, and you're not allowed to come. You need to stay here with your daddy. You're safe with him, and he'll protect you from anyone who wants to hurt you. Do you understand?" She caressed Rose's face and began nodding, urging her to obey her.

"But why are you leaving?" Rose was adamant about the question. But Lia didn't say anything. She made a thin line with her lips and tapped her cheek before walking back to Edward's car. She told Rose not to follow her, but she did anyway.
