Thirty minutes passed by, and my eyes were wide open as I waited for my mom to arrive at the hospital. After the stunt I pulled earlier, I was more than capable of showing Hunter that I could do more. The look that was plastered on his face when the doctor announced that I’d be staying at the hospital was priceless. He left in anger, not before sending threatening looks my way. I knew he wasn’t giving up, but at least I knew I was free from being held hostage, at least for now.
My eyes were fixated on the door as I heard it make a sound. My mother’s face appeared. She stood rooted by the door as tears welled up in her eyes. I found my eyes welling up too.
