Finally, today was the day I was leaving the hospital. I’d be free from staying in one place, free from the hospital smell that was so unsettling. What Hunter had said yesterday lingered in my head. He mentioned that my mom would do the talking. When I asked him what he meant by that, he didn’t reply and left. And that was the last time we saw each other.
I knew my mom had never exchanged words with him, only yesterday when he came together with Ian. And I prayed he wouldn’t disturb me for a while so I could figure things out. Mom helped me pack my belongings in the medium-sized duffle bag, and we proceeded to leave the hospital. The moment we stepped out of the room, we were met with Ian. He passed us a smile.
“Hello, Mrs. Bella,” he greeted Mom.
“Hello, Ian. What are you doing here?” She asked with surprise laced in her voice. Ian knew that I’d be discharged today, but then, I didn’t expect him to come visit.
