Chapter 69. Speak or Die

Nolan’s POV

“Bring it on,” I growled, stepping forward and locking my eyes on the lead minion. He didn’t scare me, not one bit. He looked like he thought he was some tough guy, the way that he puffed out his chest.

“Oh, the tough guy we have here. What are you going to do? Three against what, ten? Twelve of us?” he sneered in disgust. “Do you have a chance against us? Alpha Nolan and his pathetic shadows. You’re not even from around here. But I know what you have come for.” He laughed, crossing his arms over his chest and glaring at me as if he wanted to intimate me. He had no idea what he was about to let himself in for.

“Your leader is dead, and you are weak without Cameron to boss you around. How does that feel?” Rowan’s laughter erupted like thunder, infectious and filled with energy that cut through the tension.

“You shouldn’t underestimate us. Besides, your sorry excuse of a leader is no more, correct? So what’s your next move?”
