Chapter 73. Cady?
Nolan’s POV
My heartbeat quickened as the muffled voices echoed through my mind. Simon shook me to get me to say something. The desperation in his eyes clawed at me.
Rowan and Atlas remained silent, waiting for me to say anything.
“Stay close,” I instructed. My voice was barely above a whisper, but I was sure they could hear the pounding of my heart in my chest. As we crept deeper into the structure, the flickering light filtering through the grime-covered windows revealed the state of disarray around us: broken furniture, shutter glass, and an eerie stillness that hung thick in the air.
I could feel my wolf urging me to break free, charge forward, and protect what was mine, but once again, I rained in that instinct that we need a strategy, not brute strength.
“Evelyn is not here. I can’t feel her.” I hissed angrily. “I’ve had enough now. Somebody needs to tell me where my mate and child are.”
