Ethan’s POV

Two of his men pushed a frail-looking woman into the room. She had short brown hair, and her eyes were dull. It was only after a few seconds that I realized she was pregnant. Her baby bump was small, and she looked thin. I quickly masked the frown that almost appeared on my face.

“What has she got to do—” I was still asking what my business was with the woman when Marcus appeared beside me with a solemn look on his face. I looked from him to the woman and then to Gavin, who had a silent laugh in his eyes.

Damn it! No wonder I felt he was slacking!

“You were not easy to investigate, so I shifted to your second command and looked what I found.”
