Chapter 41. The Bug

Avery’s POV

My eyes snap open, and I turn to see Ethan standing behind me with his hands inside his pocket and a small frown on his face. What’s up with him?

“Can’t you understand my words?”

“I am enjoying the view from here.” I reply, turning to look away from him. He was beginning to annoy me right now.

“The air is chilly; go inside.”

If he hadn’t said it, I wouldn’t have noticed. The air was really cold, but that did not mean I was going to follow his words like a child. He starts to walk away but pauses in his movements when he notices my unwillingness to even move an inch.

“Avery.” He calls, his tone low and dangerous, but I ignore him. With a huff, I look away from him. “I told you before that I wanted to be treated like a human, but I guess that’s so har… ahhh!” A scream leaves my throat as I am immediately picked up from the ground. I finally register the fact that Ethan just threw me over his shoulder. “Drop me down!”
