“What exactly are we supposed to buy here?” Moriah asked as we both wandered through the Back-ends market. We had just trailed through the market’s entrance, and I could already feel the joy in the atmosphere seeping into my skin and spreading through my veins rapidly. Moriah, on the other hand, wasn’t as inviting to the joyous atmosphere. She wore an uninterested look on her face as if I had forced her to come with me—I wonder why.
The market came alive with the bustling sounds of merchants yelling out their daily specials from their wooden kiosks and the ensnaring aroma of roasted meat, freshly baked bread, and fragrant bouquets. The wooden buildings of the market, clustered in a large maze navigable only by the back-end dwellers, sprawled outward into a large spiral from a center far from where I and Moriah stood.
