Chapter 190. Three Blood
I always find myself in this place whenever I lose control and fall unconscious.
Surrounded by nothing but blackness and a pool of water clear as crystal, I breathed. My steps were silent even with the water rippling around my feet.
I turned to my right and found Mabel standing a short distance from me. Her eyes were pitch black, and she donned a white, knee-length, cotton dress. She smiled—a smile that held no warmth; a smile that spelled nothing but doom for me, for everything I once stood for, everything I used to love.
I turned to my left and found Rhys in an apron, staring back at me with the same smile on her face. They knew something—possibly that my heart was freezing up, turning into a block of ice, and there was absolutely nothing I could do to stop it. Why did I keep seeing them? Was it guilt? Or were they a constant reminder that I had taken a path I knew I could never come back from, a path stained with blood and littered with flesh and bone?
