Chapter 45. Western City
~Present day~
My escape from the camp was far easier than I had anticipated. Without knowing it, my membership among Prince Damian's troop had already been cemented, so even though some soldiers were still outside their tents, I was allowed to move around as I pleased.
All I had to say was that I wanted to go somewhere private to ease myself, and I could slip past everyone almost unnoticed. After getting as far away as I could from the camp, I turned around to say my final goodbyes. I was surely going to miss Moriah and remember everything she had done for me during the time we spent together.
I hurried to the western gates immediately after and was met with a long line of people leaving the city. I saw the soldiers at the gates collecting and checking identification scrolls from the people before letting them through; this was probably because they didn’t want any soldier deserting the city when it was about to be attacked by Valtorians.
