Chapter 44. No More Mistakes
~One year ago~
Damian and Moriah breathed heavily, standing side by side. They both used their blood-covered swords to support themselves; they had been battling for hours, and now they were too tired to stand on their own. Their faces and clothes were stained with blood, and their hair was drenched in sweat.
The dead bodies of the rebels were scattered all around the camp among the Valtorian soldiers they killed, and the stench of their blood filled the air. Damian fell on his knees, reached for the sword of one of the rebel soldiers, and squinted his eyes.
“My prince, is something wrong?” Moriah asked, turning to him quickly.
“This was a trap,” Damian said softly.
“What?” Moriah said with surprise her face.
