Chapter 23. Colliding with Him at Night
Brooklyn was full of questions bubbling inside her, but she had no answers to them. Why did Mr. Ardolf not inform the police about the money that Brandon had taken? Why was he being so kind to her? She was his prisoner, after all! Why did he care whether she ate?
She remembered the way he caught her hand and led her into the office, as if he sensed how vulnerable she was feeling. He didn’t look like the caring type, though. Then why did he care about her? Apart from the money involved, what ulterior motive could he have?
Brooklyn sighed as she took a shower. Finally wearing her pajamas, she ate the food that Kathy had left her and then went to the kitchen to rinse her plate. The entire house was quiet, with only Nikolas upstairs since Kathy had already gone home.
