Chapter 8. Escaped Again
After that horrible fight with Jimmy Black that night, he realized what grave danger Brooklyn was in. Jimmy Black was after her, hook, line and sinker. He did not know what made him save her from the clutches of the criminal. He punched the table with frustration, reminding himself that she was Brandon’s sister. She deserved this! Yet somewhere deep in his heart, he knew he hadn’t done the right thing. But he would never admit that aloud, even to himself.
As he ate, he could hardly savor the taste of the food as his mind was on overdrive thinking about the pale, unconscious, scared girl lying in her room at the far end of the house. Did she eat? He blinked away the thoughts. Why should he care whether she ate?
His phone buzzed with an incoming call from Gavin, his next trusted man after Bruce. He had instructed him to stay back in Chicago and keep a watch out for Brandon’s return.
“Yes, Gavin. Tell me,” he barked impatiently. Feeling frustrated with the all of them
