Chapter 11. Brandon's Involvement

After ten minutes, just as Sally had instructed, she was ready and waiting for her to open the door. Sally appeared at the doorway and gave her a look of disapproval. “Mr. Ardolf has asked thrice about you already. He hates tardiness.” She rushed out, gesturing for her to follow. Brooklyn followed her with wide eyes.

They walked down the corridor and Brooklyn looked around the luxuriously decorated, sun-kissed villa. They climbed the stairs and Brooklyn’s heart started beating faster and faster with every step that she took towards Nikolas’s room. Sally knocked on a closed door upstairs at the head of the staircase. Brooklyn heard a distinct ‘Come In’ and Sally opened the door.

“Go in,” whispered Sally, opening the door wider. Brooklyn peered inside and then walked in when all she saw were cabinets. There was an enormous desk at the side beside a wide bay window where Nikolas sat working at his laptop with a grim expression on his face.
