My day at the flower shop goes by in a blur, and I’m surprised at how easily I seem to fit in. The blend of floral scents and busy chatter makes the hours fly by faster than I expect.
Ethan and Mason are still hanging around the shop, lounging near the counter and chatting with Zoey, making me wonder what their deal is. I try my best to avoid them, determined to keep my first day from getting any more awkward than it already feels.
Lily soon steps outside and smiles warmly at me, saying, “You can leave once it’s five. Someone else will take over from where you left off.” Then she heads toward Ethan and Mason, her demeanor relaxed and familiar with them.
“Thank you, Lily,” I say, picking up my bag, feeling the ache in my hands from cutting and arranging flowers all day. My muscles are sore, but there’s a strange satisfaction in the tiredness.
During lunch, I order food to be delivered since I’m not familiar with the area yet
