Chapter 77
My eyes went on alert as they swept my surroundings. I was more curious than scared. It was an eerie feeling, but I was unperturbed by it.
"Is that you, Mama Lia?"
I hoped the voice would speak again. It had sounded familiar, but I couldn’t quite pin Mama Lia as the ghostly speaker.
I was ready to have this conversation with her. I just wanted her to be here. To relish in the knowledge that she was here and was listening to me.
"Mama Lia? Was that you who’d spoken?"
Everything was calm. The morning air was no longer eerie; it had gone back to being refreshing and relaxing.
I sighed sadly. Maybe that was her, but she’d gone.
I wondered why she’d just made that single statement and left. She was the only one who would say things like that; no one was here with me, and that didn’t sound like Lia. Lia had my exact voice.
"Lia?"
No response.
Was she still angry at me?
"Lia?"
Still no response. But I felt her move in
