Hazel's POV

"You don’t want him to come?"

She looked at me. Curiosity masking her expression, alongside the teensy weensy amusement she was hiding beneath a thick blanket of curiosity, I had thoughts that she was covert about the amusement, probably trying not to make me feel bad for slightly teasing me. She knew I was scared of the Alpha, and that was my reason for asking her.

Nonetheless, I wasn’t going to let her be right on this one. Maybe playing it casual might work for me and deceive her too.

"I didn’t say that, Mama Mia."

"Mm-hm." She eyed me, this time not bothering to hide the doubtful scrutiny.

"I hope you’re not scouring through my thoughts, Mama Mia."

"Why? Is there anything you’re keeping hidden there, Hazel?" The amusement in her tone was hard not to notice.

"Now, you’re mocking me." I uttered it, but without anger or any of those provocative emotions. I guess they are under control now.

"Don’t sa
