Darco leaned beach in his chair, folding his arms as he studied me with those harp, green calculating eyes. “The question is,” He continued, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper, “how do we prove it? Because without evidence, Rue, it does not matter what I believe. The pack will tear you apart.”
I swallowed hard, my throat dry from all the crying. “I know,” I admitted, my voice shaking a bit. “The thumb drive—it had the footage. That was my proof. But it’s gone now. Elder Robert destroyed it.”
The dark alpha’s expression darkened. “Then I really don’t know how to help you.” I could see the sadness in his eyes. “It’s not even my pack, so I can’t do much.”
“Yeah,” I replied in a low and defeating voice. “It’s fine.” I flashed him a smile and nodded, feeling tears fill my eyes again. I was tired of crying and I just wanted to give up at this point.
