Chapter 283. Desperate Times

Darco jumped back into the driver’s seat, slamming the door shut as he turned the car around with a sharp screech of tires. Alna was trembling in the backseat and I bet he was trying his best to figure out what in the world was happening. 

His hands gripped the edges of his seatbelt as if it were the only thing keeping him alive. 

“What the hell just happened?” I finally managed to ask, my voice shaky as adrenaline surged through me. 

Darco’s jaw tightened, his hands gripping the steering wheel with unnerving calm. “We got what we needed. Focus on what is next, Rue. Come on. Stop overthinking.”
