I woke up the next morning to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the sound of laughter echoing through the house. Vince’s mother, Marie, had taken over the kitchen, preparing a hearty breakfast for all of us. As I descended the stairs, I was greeted by the sight of a festive spread—pancakes, eggs, and fruits adorned the table.
“Good morning, Laura!” Marie exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with warmth. “Sit down, dear. I’ve made your favorite pancakes.”
I couldn’t help but smile at her genuine enthusiasm. “Thank you, Marie. Everything smells amazing.”
