Vince’s mother came the following morning with a voice full of love and praise for me. She was so determined to hug me that, even though Vince approached her first, she pushed him away and hugged me tightly.

“You are going to have my grandchild, Laura,” Vince’s mother informed me. Her name was Marie, and she had a heart of gold that was bigger than anyone I had ever seen in my life.
