Chapter 16. You Can't Go with Me
At the exercise track,
School had closed, but Kaylee chose to stay behind and rest for some time at the track. She was going to take the bus home anyway; she could just go home an hour later. There was no one at home either. It wasn’t like the presence of her Dad and Laura took the boredom away, but at least she would know she wasn’t alone.
Her thoughts drifted to her mother as she sat down in one of the audience seats. It was a memory of when she and Laura visited the mall together with their mother. They had finished shopping, and Kaylee insisted that she wanted ice cream. They walked to the ice cream stand and—
Kaylee's thoughts were cut short by someone waving his hand in front of her face.
She looked up at him, his body shielding the sun's rays from her eyes. It was Kavinsky. He moved away from her front and sat beside her.
"Have been looking all over for you," Kavinsky said with a cool face.
