Jake returned in the morning. I heard him entering the apartment, but I pretended to be asleep. I listen to his footsteps approaching my room. My heart pounded.

Jake opened the door to my room.

"Lena, I know you're awake. I heard you crying since I came in," he commented.

I cursed. I didn't want to talk to Jake. Jake had acted like an idiot. I didn't feel prepared to have a conversation with him. I wanted Jake to leave me alone. I pretended to be asleep despite what he said. But Dean sat down next to me. I accidentally opened my eyes.

"I knew you were awake, Lena. You don't have to pretend with me. I know you."

"I don't want to talk to you, Jake. I want you to leave me alone."

"Is it because of last night?" he asked. Of course, it was because of last night! His question was unnecessary.
