And there was Lucas again, Lucas stealthily making his way out from Winter’s window while I patiently waited for the right moment to accost him.

“What brings you to the women’s court at this time of night, husband?”

He stopped quickly, being startled by my presence in the darkness.

His response was a guarded silence that announced the unease in his demeanor.

I prodded further, chuckling, “Why do you look like you’ve seen a ghost?”

He played his usual trick of ignoring me and trying to leave still, but I wasn’t done yet.

“You’re obviously here to see me. I mean there’s no other woman you’d be visiting in the women’s court. So why are you leaving without talking to me?” I playfully poked and grabbed his elbow.
