Chapter 29
Alex's POV
Days blurred into weeks, perhaps even months, and I lost track of time. The only semblance of sanity that remained within me was his presence.
He would come to the basement, attempting to extract information from me about our kind, the werewolves, and our hiding places. Despite the countless kicks and inflicted pain, I refused to utter a single word.
Curled up in a corner, I felt utterly hopeless and helpless. The only respite came when he switched on the lights, momentarily illuminating my surroundings.
Survival became an arduous task. I had grown accustomed to such circumstances, having endured similar scenarios as a slave within my pack. My hopes, once buoyant, now plummeted back to their rightful place.
The illusion that everything would change as I embarked on my new life in the city had shattered. I was still the weak, despairing, unlucky, and unworthy individual I had always been.
