Chapter 8. Me and You
Mark sighed for the umpteenth time that afternoon as he stared at his closet. He was at a loss for what to wear, which was very obvious as his closet was filled with jeans and polo shirts. He didn’t have any suits and was not particular about getting his father’s. He didn’t even like it to begin with.
He could not stay home, especially since he had been indoors for more than one day, and he was going to run mad if he spent another day inside.
He heard wood being cut in the backyard by his father’s able hands. The rhythmic sound of the ax meeting the wood made his head pound in many ways.
He closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
The sound of footsteps approaching the door woke him up from his light nap. He rubbed his eyes when the door opened, and his father poked his head in.
“Shouldn’t you be on your way already? What time does the dance start?”
“I do not know, Dad, but I’m pretty certain that it’s not going to be now,” he replied, rolling
