Chapter 56

The trip home was quiet. It seemed the trips from the Scott residence were always quiet. As usual, Gen was looking out the window, lost in her thoughts. Dom wondered what was going on in her head. He had seen her have a talk with Audrey, and while there was nothing unusual about that, they seemed very serious.

He had a feeling it had to do with him, with them. Everybody seemed to want to talk about just one thing these days, and it was their relationship. The truth was, he also wanted to talk about it, but he felt it was not the right time. He turned to look at her again.

“Are you good, Gen? You've been like that since we left the house,” he asked.

“Yes, yes. I’m fine. Just tired. Dealing with the kids all day must have drained me,” but she was smiling.

“You were amazing with the kids, though. It’d have been a really chaotic situation if you hadn’t stepped in at some points when you did.”
