Chapter 57

Where was she running to? Dom was genuinely confused… and amused. He stopped walking and watched as she sped towards the house. He really wanted to know what she was thinking. He would give anything to know what was going on in her head. He had a guess, though, and if that’s what she was thinking, she was not entirely wrong. That was not all he was thinking, but it was part of it.

He had wanted to kiss her, but he was not going to. In that moment when their eyes had met, he had realized that it was senseless to pretend like nothing was going on between them. He had enjoyed sitting out and talking with her. This was the first actual conversation they had had, and honestly, it was the most fun he had had in a very long time.

He laughed to himself. Funny how fun to him now meant sitting on the trunk of his car, eating burgers from a food truck and talking with a woman he should hate on the streets of New York. He did not care a single bit, though. Not a single bit.
