Chapter 19. Found

Jane couldn’t fall asleep. And she was sure Alexander couldn’t either. She heard sounds coming from his room all night, not the gross kind of sounds. Now, she currently looked like a walking dead, holding a cup of bitter coffee.

Jane was usually superficial about her looks, but today was different. She couldn’t muster up the slightest iota of strength to run an actual comb through her hair or even take a shower. Jane was spiraling, and she knew it.

“Good morning,” she greeted Alexander after he walked into the kitchen, heading straight for the coffee machine.

“Morning,” Alexander grunted out after two minutes.

“Any news on Isabella’s whereabouts?” she questioned. The coffee kicked in, doing an effective job of waking her up.

“Nope. No news so far,” he shook his head in disappointment. “But they’re still working.”

Jane felt her hope deflate at the news. “I can’t believe this.” The coffee now smelled putrid in her nose, so she dumped the rest down
