Chapter 18. Missing
Police cars littered the entire space outside the mansion. While some were simply idling, others had their sirens flashing blue and red repeatedly.
Jane knew in that instant what her least favorite colors were. If given a choice, she’d pick yellow over those colors, and that was saying a lot.
“When did you last see her?” the detective questioned, her notepad and pen poised in front of her.
Jane had answered this question countless times. Now, all she could do was stare blankly at the lady whose hair was styled into a tight bun. If Jane looked closely, she could see the stretch of skin and veins right on her forehead.
“Miss, you need to cooperate with me, or you could be listed as an accomplice on the grounds of withholding valuable information.”
“I’ve told you everything I know,” Jane gritted out, feeling her thin patience snap. She had been sitting in this same spot for hours while they drilled her with the same questions.
