Chapter 22. Truce
Since the moment Isabella returned, she had been distant and unable to fully socialize. Jane tried everything, from calling almost every day and stopping by after work to suggesting every fun thing that they could engage in.
But Isabella was hell-bent on secluding herself for the majority of the time. No matter their efforts, both Jane’s and Alexander’s, it was wasted.
“She’s different,” Jane spoke up after a long stretch of silence.
Alexander expected her to say something sooner. Her complaint was overdue.
He nodded in agreement to Jane’s words.
“She’s just shaken up.”
“What do you suggest we do?” her voice sounded anguished. Seeing Isabella that way was slowly taking its effect on her.
Alexander contemplated his options, finally settling on one. “There’s a friend of mine. He’s a therapist. Perhaps, he could help.”
Jane watched him carefully, browsing through her words. “Do you think she’ll go for therapy?”
