Chapter 177. Silent Resolves

Isabella was seated in the living room with a cup of tea in her hands. It was cold now, untouched for the past hour as she lost herself in thought since Peggy had passed it to her. The house was quiet but that did not seem to bother her. She was used to the quietness that had filled her life recently.

The sound of the doorbell jolted Isabella from her blank stare back to reality. She dropped the cup on the glass table and went to answer the door. Jane stood on the other side, her face lightened up with a smile that Isabella found herself smiling back at.

“Jane,” Isabella greeted, and opened the door wider to let her friend in. “It is good to see you.”

Jane walked inside.

“It is good to see you too mate,” she said, pulling Isabella into a hug. “How are you holding up?”

Isabella forced a small smile.

“I am great,” she replied and led Jane to the living room.

“You are great indeed,” Jane said with obvious sarcasm. “I can see that as well.”
