Chapter 9. A Visit from the Past
In every person’s life, there are defining moments—those that shape or break you, depending solely on the experience. This experience could come carefully wrapped in a gift box with a little bow on top, while others visit our lives like a wrecking ball, destroying everything in their path, which unfortunately may be you. Some occur in the form of people.
These are the ones who leave deeply embedded footprints in our lives. Some may be redemptive, while others, not so much. They wound us, leaving the tender flesh raw and open for the world to see. With time, these wounds heal, but not entirely, as the scars formed from the pain slowly rise until all we’re met with is a jagged and ugly print. Waiting. Growing into a monster so unreal. The monster hides, lurking behind a dark place like a predator; its strategy to attack is kept on hold until an opportunity presents itself.
