Chapter 33. No More Secrets
Natasha was on her way out of the house when her mom called her.
“Yes, Mom?”
“I wanna talk to you about something. Come take a seat.”
“Okay.” She walked up to her mom and sat on the couch beside her. “So, what’s the entire issue?”
“I was talking to the lawyer about preparing for the case, and we figured that Grant would try to take custody of you girls on the grounds of negligence.”
“What do you mean negligence? You’re not negligent, Mom.”
“I sort of am, if you think about it. For the past few months you girls haven’t really been around the house much, and there’s no reasonable explanation I can give to the judge as to your whereabouts. What if Grant saw you girls get into some sort of trouble and is planning to use that as leverage in court?”
Natasha was about to respond when thoughts of just how much danger she had faced crossed her mind. She has a point here. Maybe He did see us on one night, and maybe he is planning to use that as eviden
