The room felt uncomfortable with the presence of someone who had once been loved and suddenly disappeared. The love story might have ended or turned into a “to be continued” phrase, which Willow was experiencing now.
Sitting across from Max and Veronica, accompanied by Zoey, their conversation didn’t go too deep because of Zoey’s presence, leaving Willow uncomfortably stuck in vague small talk. Veronica’s questions felt like an investigation, subtly prying into Willow’s past.
Willow felt uncomfortable, having to answer every question while withholding specific facts.
“So you raised Zoey alone, then where is her father?” Veronica inquired.
Willow had previously shared parts of her past until her time in Cypresswood. Veronica’s questions felt like an interrogation, albeit a subtle one. Willow felt stifled, forced to give answers while withholding parts of the truth.
“Oh, he’s not here,” Willow replied with a tight smile. “We weren’t married.”
