Chapter 51. Meet the Parents
As they stepped off the plane, Willow’s heart raced even faster. It was nearing evening when they arrived in Phoenix, and Max decided to have dinner at the Red Devil Italian and treat Zoey to pizza. The trip had been enjoyable enough, but Willow was too tense to meet her parents.
As the car entered the Camelback East Village area, Willow’s feelings became even more unsettled. Memory after memory assaulted Willow’s mind, causing her to clench her fists to hold back the emotions.
After passing several more houses, most of which had palm trees in their yards, the car stopped in front of a house with a short white fence that matched the color of the exterior.
“Oh, dear God,” Willow murmured.
Max parked the car and looked at Willow with a reassuring look. “It’s going to be okay, Willow.”
