Chapter 88. The Plan

The next morning, Max decided he needed to talk to Veronica. Fortunately, Veronica was in her office, so Max hurried over to see her. Although Veronica seemed reluctant to talk to Max, she immediately gestured for her son to sit down.

“What do you want to talk to me about, Max?” Veronica asked, getting right to the point.

“Where did Mom bury Dad?” Max inquired.

Veronica stared at Max for a few seconds, then returned her attention to the files on her desk. She didn’t answer at all.

“Mom! Please answer me!” Max pressed.

“And why should I? So you can give him a proper burial? He doesn’t deserve anything good in this world after his death, Max,” Veronica replied.

Max swallowed hard, finding it difficult to stand up to Veronica. Somehow, Veronica had a way and reasons that left people speechless. Veronica had the soul of a leader, but if she led in the wrong direction, everything would be chaotic.
