Chapter 236. Poison

We walked on after the sun went down and we were able to walk without getting burned. The sun was aggressive in this area, more so than in the city, and it gave our feet a terrible rash. Damp began to rise from the earth.
“Look” I said to Sallie, who was at least willing to talk, even if her mind was not the most conventional.
I pointed to an orange flower that seemed to be in the shape of a bird, complete with wings. She looked at it in amazement.
“It looks like a bird, what a beautiful flower!” She said, marveling and trying not to touch it so it wouldn’t fall off the stem.
It was not the only flower like this, there were two more next to it in front of us. Even Ian was surprised, it was a very beautiful plant. It was a vine climbing up a beautiful broad tree, the name of which I didn’t know.
