Chapter 47. Vulnerable
DOVE
As a queen, I had to make difficult decisions most of the time; I understood that. Sometimes, even though I was drowning in my own demons, I fell into that abyss.
“Dove, wake up,” Jacob whispered in my ear; I couldn’t open my eyes.
A week passed, and more than four months had elapsed since I arrived at the castle, marrying out of obligation to the love of my life. For the moment, I was so tired that I only woke up to go to the bathroom and then eat and do a few things during the day.
Something was happening to me; my head told me I was going through the worst. Perhaps one of those girls had poisoned me with some kind of substance that would slowly kill me, and I wouldn’t be able to live the life I dreamed of.
From my bed, I wondered if I really enjoyed living there, and the answer was a resounding yes. I loved Jacob with all my heart, and my new life was a paradise for me.
