The face Leticia wore was to be painted; she couldn’t believe that her son was still opposing her in front of the crowd. I wanted to laugh, but I wouldn’t be as rude as they were; I was better than that; my mother had raised me well. I saw her again among the throngs of the hall, but now she was smiling; she was happy for me.
It was a moment of turbulence; things were getting out of control. Katherine seemed to be shouting, cursing me shamelessly; people whispered, and rumors escaped from the castle. The prince and his daughter were neck-deep in indignation and warned of a possible confrontation.
