He took my arm, a gesture that made me smile; I enjoyed it when he was chivalrous. We then headed to his personal room when Leticia interrupted us with her characteristic unfriendly face.
“Son, today you dine with us and the prince. We have been invited,” Leticia said, ignoring me completely as if I didn’t exist. She looked at her son with severity, hoping he would pay attention once and for all.
“This is my castle; they can’t invite me to dinner in my own home,” Jacob responded, his irony coming naturally to him.
“You can’t be so discourteous. It’s a formality; an agreement is necessary to fix our situation with those people, and you must understand it.”
“What? I owe nothing to those people. That baby is not mine, so they should be grateful that I don’t accuse them of defamation.”
“Look, there are too many witnesses. They saw you enter your room with her on Christmas night,” she said, looking at me with disgust.
