Chapter 14. Morning Surprise

Jacob woke me up with a kiss on my neck, sensing my scent and snuggling into my chest. He was very tender when he wasn’t fully awake yet, seemingly in a trance. It used to happen in the early morning, and it was as if he was drunk, which amused me a lot. When he was one hundred percent conscious, he was much colder. I took possession of his being at night before sleeping when we merged into one and kept him addicted to my skin, asking for more. That seriousness captivated me; in part, it made him so different from the rest of the men.
I wanted to find a moment alone to check if I found traces of that blessed dagger, not finding an appropriate time when the room was empty. The cleaning people also entered daily, and I didn’t want them to discover me snooping like a thief.
“Good morning,” he said when he fully woke up, without kissing me. I threw myself over him to give him a good morning kiss as a greeting.
