Chapter 74

Cassandra’s POV

Aarav was one of the few people who were nice to me when I was younger despite the fact that I could not transmute. He looked out for me, and chased away other kids that bothered me. I used to spend quite a lot of time with him, but the recent happenings in the abode, since Daniel’s rebellion, had made us drift apart.

“What’s troubling you, dear?” he asked in that gentle, reassuring tone that he often used to talk to me.

I considered evading the question, and beat behind the bush so I could wheedle the answer I need out of him. But I knew Aarav would see right through me. The best policy, with him, is honesty.

“I need to get to Honoria,” I blurted out.

“Find another suicide mission to attempt,” he sniggered and returned his attention back to fishing.

“I need to get fetch the Black Powder so I could save Alexa’s mom,” I said.

“Two suicide missions then,” he chuckled, “and you do know the Black Powder is a myth, right?”<
