Chapter 47. Realization
Keme hunted for what seemed like hours, and unbeknownst to him, he was coming up to a clearing in the woods. The knight driveled on for hours, so Keme found it hard to keep track of the time. The moon’s placement in the sky was pretty high on the horizon, but he still was unsure. It was late, though, and nothing panned out, even though he sensed something earlier in the evening by the pier.
He turned a corner into the woods to return to the knight’s house when he heard whispering. He took a whiff of the night air, and the distinctness of a vampire and gardenia perfume touched his nostrils. Something else, a scent unfamiliar to him, was also prevalent. It wasn’t a vampire, and it wasn’t human. The vamp had to be Alec or Armand, and Keme had no intention of losing the scent this time.
Keme crept up softly, close to where the whispers were. His limbs readied themselves to pounce in his wolf form. After getting a closer look, it became dark, dark enough that he stepped on a branch.
