Chapter 12. Meeting the King
By the time Eva got into the off-roader with Luca driving, it was close to sunset. Joanna was also dressed in a similar dress; she handed over a silver bracelet to Eva.
“Always keep this on your wrist; this is the key to the doorway.”
Eva put it on her wrist and waited patiently for Sebastian to get into the front passenger seat. Eva could see that both of them were armed.
“Expecting trouble?” Eva asked, pointing at the guns.
“It used to be quiet around here, but with you around, we can’t take a chance. Lots of forces want you either dead or captured.”
“What is so special about me? I’m just an ordinary girl; even my mate can’t seem to want me.”
“The prince wants you; he has been protecting you since your birth. He would gladly give his life if it meant your safety,” Sebastian spoke in a deep voice. That was the first time Eva heard him speak more than a couple of words.
