Chapter 15. The Announcement
Edward leaned back and began to formulate a plan to prepare for the battle he was sure would soon be at his doorstep. This time, unlike the last, he had much to lose.
Edward fell into a peaceful slumber, feeling a steady heartbeat of Eva.
They must have been asleep for a few hours, for when his mother gently awakened Edward, it was dark outside.
“Dear, Eva needs to leave. You know she can’t stay here yet. I packed your bag; you’re leaving with her.”
Now that she was here, he wouldn’t be able to leave her. Where she would go, he’d follow.
“Mother, don’t plan the ceremony just now. She needs more time to get used to all this.” Seeing how his mother wants to argue, he continued, “She is one of us, but she was never raised as one. Everything is new to her. She hasn’t even met her father. So, we’ll just delay the ceremony as much as we can.”
