Chapter 5. The Fog

While Joanna was getting dinner ready, she went to her room. It was a small round room at the top of a staircase on the western side of the house. Elijah had built this room, especially for her, before her first visit. He always said whenever they visited that every princess deserves her own tower. Eva giggled every time. He even filled her closet with princess dresses.

She missed her grandpa; he was always telling her stories about magical lands filled with magical beings. Now she realized they were all made up, but the little girl she was back then loved all of that. She especially loved to hear about the lost prince who left his kingdom to look for his princess. When Elijah told this story, she always imagined the prince to have green eyes. One time, she told her grandpa that the prince had green eyes, and he looked rather surprised.
