“Oh, for heaven’s sake, stop scaring the girl, Eugenia,” the other woman shouted, pointing her walking stick at Eugenia.

“What I said was true; stop babying the girl, Francis. She needs to be strong to face what is to come; I have foreseen that much. Only she holds the key to save our world from the fog,” Eugenia said but went back to her chair.

The woman named Francis turned towards Joanna, “How much does she know? Who did her passage into adulthood?”

“I don’t think she had any of those done; Verona took her off into the human world to keep her from her magic. So far, I haven’t felt even a spark from her. She has this barrier in her mind. It’s a spell done by a caster. Maybe it was there to prevent her from reaching adulthood,” Joanna said, looking thoughtfully at Evalina.

“Wait, hold on, what are you talking about?” Turning towards Gigi, “This is a joke, right?
